about

I’m a father and a husband. I have two children, a boy and a girl, who occupy most of my time and are favorite photographic subjects of mine (I talk about them a lot on my other blog). I love photography, which I have been doing since I was in my teens, but I’ve only taken it up with a huge passion since my children were born several years ago.

I shoot with a Nikon D90 DSLR and occasionally with a Canon point and shoot. I’ve been posting photos online regularly since 2004 at Flickr but decided to start this photoblog as someplace where I have total control over the presentation of my photos (also I sell prints here). I do more editing here as well. Every photo I post here is probably also at Flickr. But not every photo at Flickr makes it here.

I have two main reasons for posting my photos online. First, and most importantly, I take photographs so that I can share them with other people. I think it’s sad for an image to languish in a shoebox or on a hard drive somewhere, never to be seen by anyone. Taking a photograph and never showing it to anyone seems like baking a delicious cake and throwing it right into the garbage. Second, I want to improve my photography. The best way I can think of to do that is to share my images and get feedback from appreciators and other photographers. I would love to hear your constructive criticisms. I’m also eager to share what knowledge I have about photography so please ask if you have any questions about how an image was created or visit my photo tutorial site Photodoto.com.

Thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoy the photographs and come back often.
